Is it just me or is there something so cosy and inviting about a stack of warm French toast dripping in syrup?
It’s usually a bit too decadent to have every day though… But not this version! Packed with protein this healthier version is the perfect balanced meal to start your day.
Top with your choice of fruit, nuts, syrup or nut butter and make it as indulgent as you like!
Ingredients:
20g protein powder
70ml egg whites/ 1 whole egg
2 slices wholewheat bread
50-100ml almond milk or milk of choice
Toppings of choice eg berries, bananas, syrup, nut butter, Nutella etc
For the Cream Cheese Frosting
50g fat-free Greek yoghurt
15g light cream cheese
10g protein powder
Method:
In a large deep plate or bowl, mix together the protein powder, egg whites and almond milk.
Dip one slice of bread in and leave for 5 minutes, then flip over and soak the other side. Repeat the process for the second slice of bread.
Heat a non-stick pan on a medium-high heat with a bit of butter or cooking spray. Once the pan is hot, add in the bread and cook for a few minutes on each side.
In the meantime, mix together the yoghurt, cream cheese and remaining protein powder in a small bowl and set aside.
When the french toast is ready, top with the cream cheese frosting, your choice of toppings and enjoy!
